12.14 Investigative Report: Prospecting for Global Business (Obj. 4)
You have been asked to prepare a training program for U.S. companies doing business outside the country.
Your Task. Select a country to investigate. Collect data from the Country Watch website, the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) The World Factbook, or from the country’s embassy in Washington. Interview on-campus international students. Use the Web to discover data about the country. See Activity 13.13 and Figure 13.6 in Chapter 13 for additional ideas on gathering information on intercultural communication. Collect information about formats for written communication, observance of holidays, customary greetings, business ethics, and other topics of interest to businesspeople. Remember that your report should promote business, not tourism. Prepare a memo report addressed to Mia Alexander, editor for the training program materials.
