The ÂCross-Border Marathon (CBM) has been running for 20 years. The organisation has five paid staff members in the following roles: Managing Director, Meet Director, Volunteer Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator and Operations Coordinator. The CBM has a dedicated and trained volunteer group of approximately 300 people. The event starts in the City of Apathaca, Montanaco, crosses the border and finishes in the City of Beladrus, Finnacky. The 2012 race was the largest yet with over 2,500 racers participating. During the winter planning season, the Managing Director has learnt that international laws require all participants to carry a passport to cross the border between Apathaca and Finnacky. Further to this, new sanctions have been imposed by border security on bus travel groups which requires transportation manifests to be provided two months in advance of an event date.
